Things

to Do

Apart from bringing all of our favorite people together for our wedding day, we are so excited for those we love to experience a slice of mountain living and the beauty that lies in the Rockies!

If you are able to take some extra time off work and make it out early or stay later after the wedding, there are so many incredible activities to do in the area. If not, simply being in Telluride for the weekend is an experience in itself.

Culture & relaxation

  • Free and scenic. Runs from town to Mountain Village daily, with the best views at sunset.

  • Every Friday in summer on South Oak Street. Fresh produce, local food, flowers, and handmade goods.

Orvis Hot Springs (Ridgway)

Music on the Green

  • An hour north of Telluride (on your way from Montrose). Natural pools at different temps, clothing optional, very Colorado.

  • Free Friday concerts in Mountain Village during summer. Bring a blanket and enjoy the view.

Farmers Market

The Gondola

Outdoor Adventures

Bridal Veil Falls

Bear Creek Trail

Blue Lakes Hike

Off-Road Tours

  • A harder trek above Bridal Veil with turquoise alpine lakes. This is definitely a full day hike but one of the most beautiful hikes ever!! Six to eight miles with plenty of elevation gain—best for early risers and strong hikers. Make sure to account for time to relax at the lake and bring snacks to enjoy.

  • Ride over mountain passes like Ophir, Imogene, or Yankee Boy Basin. Go with a Jeep tour or rent a side-by-side. Beware some trails are very technical. Make sure you have a plan of where you are going. This is one of the best ways to see the beauty of the San Juans!

Via Ferrata

Mountain Biking

  • We haven’t done this specific Via Ferrata but love a good Via Ferrata. A famous climbing route across cliffs high above town. Steel cables and iron rungs keep you clipped in. You can go with a guide which includes all of the gear.

  • Rent bikes in town or Mountain Village. Trails range from mellow valley rides to full downhill park at the resort. Maps are at the gondola station.

  • A local favorite right from town. Five miles roundtrip with a steady incline, ending at a big waterfall. Trailhead is at the end of Pine Street.

  • Colorado’s tallest free-falling waterfall. The hike starts at the end of town, about 1.8 miles up a dirt road. You can also drive partway with a high-clearance vehicle.

Food & Drink

New sheridan historic bar

main street shops

  • Cozy brunch and coffee. Busy mornings but worth the wait.

  • Casual spot with house-brewed beers, burgers, and hearty pub food. Great for groups and right in downtown.

  • A must do while in Telluride. Explore the charm of downtown Telluride by strolling and window shopping.

  • An 1890s saloon with classic cocktails and billiards. One of Telluride’s oldest hangouts.
